The Warrior Helmet has been pulling some all-nighters over the last couple of weeks. Shane Delara, our Overnight Warehouse Supervisor in Smock, PA received the honor of the Warrior Helmet from Lorenzo Caballero, another team member in Texas. Lorenzo passed the helmet off to Shane, saying he has always been there for support since the Houston Distribution Center opened, and he is available at any time of day for help. It was great to see a deserving overnight team member receive this honor, and we know Shane will represent the helmet well.

Share some fun facts about yourself!

I used to be into kayaking and all things involving water. Whether it was the river flowing through my hometown or the Atlantic Ocean. I’ve always loved to swim and be in/around water in general. Pretty sure in another life I was a beach bum.I’m also a huge animal lover. I have a soft spot for all animals, but especially dogs. My German Shepherd Jax is definitely my best friend.

What does winning the warrior helmet mean to you?

Winning the warrior helmet was an honor. Thank you to Lorenzo for considering me! I’m not a person to seek recognition for my work and effort, but it’s always nice to be noticed.

What did you or what do you look for when it comes to choosing the next recipient?

When looking for the next recipient, I will try to look for someone who goes above and beyond. Someone who shares some of our core values day after day. There are a lot of people who are very deserving of the Warrior Helmet, and that makes it a hard decision. It’s tough to narrow it down to one person.

How has COE helped you to get where you are?

I had no idea that I would be where I am today with the company when I started about 5 years ago, through the temp agency. I had just gotten through some of the hardest times in my life, prior to starting with the company. I’ve always tried to give any job my best effort, and with COE hard work pays off. I wasn’t really looking at COE as a career when I first started, but at the moment I am happy with everything that the company has offered me, and I appreciate all that they do for all of us.

What goals do you want to achieve and how can COE help get you there? Personal and operational growth.

My biggest goal in life is as simple as being able to support myself and my family. At 31 years old, I’m looking to start a family, and COE has allowed me to grow with the company. I’ll keep giving it my all, and hopefully, COE continues to grow and succeed as well.

What is your favorite part of our employee engagement programs at COE and why?

I like that we cover topics that allow us to grow as individuals as well as a group. I feel like Becoming Your Best was one of the best books that we covered. Everyone was able to take and use at least one concept from that book to better their personal and/or work life.

What are you most excited for when it comes to our Penguin partnership?

I’ve always been a Penguins fan, so I’m just happy that we’ve partnered with them in general. I can’t wait to see what other opportunities we get in the future, and where our Penguins partnership takes us.

What COE value do you think you’re the strongest in and why?

I think that the COE value I’m strongest in is teamwork. Whether it is picking orders, loading trucks, or even something as simple as wrapping skids and sweeping the floor, I’ll do whatever needs to be done to help any of my coworkers.
